Alderwood Giving Tree:
Every year we have had the privilege of caring for the needs of the families at Alderwood Elementary. Normally, the Giving Tree consists of getting presents for families who are asking. This year, the school district and Alderwood has asked us to provide gift cards for families in need. Due to COVID, there are a lot more needs by families.
Our goal this year is 100 gift cards by December 20th.
Our first encouragement is for anyone who wishes to participate this year, to give money to the Alderwood Elementary Fund Online and we can buy the needed gift cards for Alderwood.
If you wish to actually go and buy a gift card, the gift cards are listed below. Please mail those gift cards with the amount that is on the card to PO Box 2775, Bellingham, WA 98227

What is the Partnership?
At Redeemer, we know that we are in our city to love our city. Throughout our history, we’ve done different service projects and encouraged our Gospel Communities to serve, but didn’t have an area of clear and ongoing need we could meet.
In 2016, when the staff at Alderwood Elementary School asked us for help, it became clear to us how we could get and stay involved.
Our entire vision for partnering with Alderwood is not to have an agenda of our own. We come alongside the vision of the faculty, and support them as they work to serve and care for this community.
How can I help?
The most obvious need is for people to work alongside the teachers during the school day. We ask volunteers to serve for at least a 10-week period. That may seem like a long time, but it really helps the students to see familiar faces; many of them lack consistency in their relationships.
But serving in the classroom isn’t the only way to help.
We bless the teachers with gifts and notes of encouragement. During the holidays we collect gifts and gift cards so all the kids will receive something for Christmas. Our church is a collection point for warm winter clothing for the students. We also help at one-off events like school concerts.
